Hot Potatoes for all your exam
Description
Hot Potatoes is one of freeware. The program is now available for free. The hot
potatoes suite includes six applications, enabling you to create interactive
multiple-choice, short-answer, jumbled-sentence, crossword, matching/ordering
and gap-fill exercises for the Word Wide Web. It is multipurpose for specially
teacher to make any creation tasks or assessments.
Types
There are six types of JCross, JCloze, JMacth, JMix, JQuiz,
and the last is the Masher.
JCross is one of way how to make crossword or puzzle more
interesting and creatively. There are many forms of making a new puzzle with
the clue that should appropriate with title.
JCloze is another part of hot potatoes by using gap fill the
empty of the part in a sentence. That will be suitable for students’ task like
completing song lyric etc.
JMatch is one of task’s forms that can be used to match any
word with another word that appropriate of sentence with sentence. If we open
this part we will see two parts left side and right side.
JMix is another creative task uses sentence with another
sentence, so we will find main sentence in the left side and alternate sentence
in the right side. it is for give another alternative answer for students, so
one question that will be possible to have more than one answer.
Jquiz is a task that shows multiple choices answer for every
question and teacher can also add feedback for every answer to make sure that
students will also know the right answer.
The Masher is the main part of hot potatoes which is the
place for all the other parts. We can create tasks that consist of all the
types of hot potatoes. We can also add another form of task like crossword
puzzle from website type.
Product
JCross this is one of example tasks for intermediate
students complete with the picture that also interest the students to answer
the question. This task is about entertainment job that consist of five
questions. But we are not worry it is also complete with the clues bellow the
questions.
JCloze for this task is gap fill exercise about Oscar and
Toshi text. Students should answer the blank word in the entire sentence. It is
for intermediate students because it is complete with the helping tool.
JMacth is matching
word in order from some sentence about how to make instant coffee if we are as the
owner of the cafe. It is for intermediate students with high level of English
because the students should know the meaning for each sentence.
JMix in this example is for intermediate students, it is
interesting because there are many pictures and how to make it easier for
students because in this task there is undo menu and restart menu.
JQuiz in this task still talk about job of a house wife,
there are five questions there that has multiple choices directly shows all or
even one by one.
the Masher of this task consist of the all kinds of the hot
potatoes tasks and one addition in website task of crossword or puzzle.
Students in intermediate level will see all of the tasks and students are
freely to choose which one is the first task for them to answer.
